Today is our son's third birthday or 1,095 days old.
This is what we know about his emerging personality so far:
* he loves anything with wheels and that goes fast; cars, planes and trains. and he has since he developed the manual dexterity to hold and manipulate an object.
* he is very polite. he can knock your socks off with his appropriate use of please and thank you. it makes you want to add extra hot fudge to his sundae when he's so darn cute and polite.
* he is a love bug and he loves his dad. we call it "hold you" because he wants you to hold him, carry him and snuggle with him. dad is the main target of his "hold you" requests.
* he loves books and is on his way to being a really good reader.
* he is very independent and wants to do things on his own, and has wanted to be independent since before he was really able to. He wants his own and doesn't want to share. He wants to use his spoon and not be fed. he wants to see what you were doing. And you better believe you hear about it if he thought he was getting stiffed or something different from what you have.
* he loves to help. he loves being a good helper. jack can slow the progress of the task at hand but it so worth it to see him feel proud of himself.
* he is just a cool and happy kid. he has a beautiful smile, infectious laugh and you just want to be around him. you want his attention.
Our bed time routine has been the same since he was two months old:
As we pull the shade down we say "good night outside, good night big world, see you in the morning." Then we say "we love you, we're proud of you and we always want to be together."
