The tickets were Jeff's gift to me for our 5th wedding anniversary. And just because Jeff is so great and thoughtful he knew having Jen with us would make me so happy, he got a ticket for her as well.
Jeff said as we were waiting for the show to start that he had no expectations for the concert. But the whole thing was awesome from beginning to end. Here are some highlights:
- We were given ticket upgrades as soon as we checked our tickets. We had "the ass end of space" seats (third tier seats) but were moved to second tier right by the stage seats.
- It was so exciting to see he come out on stage. The stage was a techno-geek's dream. It was an L shaped LED screen coming down from the ceiling that rolled images and that George stood on. Before the show started we couldn't figure out how he would enter, from behind the LED screen or from the back of the arena. But when the time came, two doors opened from bottom curve in the L shape and he walked out and the doors closed behind him.
- There were two Wham! songs including one of my personal favorites: I'm Your Man
- He did a costume change during Outside and dressed like a LAPD officer including aviator glasses and handcuffs
- realizing that George Michael was my first celebrity crush and it doesn't matter what he now looks like or his past transgressions I will always enjoy his music and be a fan.
- The Careless Whisper and Freedom 90 encores
- The Dita Von Tesse taped performance during a song that he included for all the "straight boys that have been dragged along."
- The wedding picture of Wallis and Edward scrolling on the LED screen/stage
- "Faith" kicking off the second half of the concert
- I know in my heart of hearts that George singled me out of everyone one there and spoke directly to me when he waved and said "Hello, Thank You and I Love You."
- the point of the tour (his words: "purposes of this exercise") was to thank his fans for 25 years of support.
