The girl does not sleep unless she is physically on me. Either in the BabyBjorn (as pictured above) or with me holding and rocking her or she uses my arm as a pillow lying in bed with me, practically in my arm pit.
During the night, I try to stay awake to feed, burp, change diaper and put back to sleep in her Moses basket. But, by the 5am feeding I'm just too doggone tired to do the routine and she ends up sleeping with me in our bed, like I said, practically in my arm pit.
The past hour is the most she has slept today. I don't mind it, I like looking at her and feeling close but, I really need to do the dishes and that's tough to do with a baby strapped to my chest.
The "rule books" say that babies are malleable for the first two to three months of life and I can do anything that buys me some sleep. So, I don't think (and really hope not) that I'm setting either of us up for bad sleeping habits. I think Lily is doing a reasonably good job of sorting out her day and night and she will be a good sleeper in a few months. It will take some work to get Lily into a routine but it is well worth the effort. I cannot do without at least six hours solid sleep.
